Hotel Bel Ami is located just steps away
from St. Germain des Prs and minutes from
the Caf de Flore and Les Deux Magots, the
haunts of Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir and
their Existentialist cohorts. Whilst in recent
years, the large fashion houses including
Christian Dior and Emporio Armani have been
drawn to the Left Bank, St Germain continues
to attract the artists, intellectuals and
radicals who have traditionally laid claim to it.
It is entirely fitting therefore, that Hotel Bel
Ami, its facade bearing all the hallmarks of
the Industrial Revolution and a converted
print works, should share the name of one of
France's most celebrated literary oeuvres of
that time, Bel Ami, the fin-de-siecle
masterpiece written by Guy de Maupassant. |
