This beautiful renaissance castle was built by Beraud Stuart of Darnley at the end of the XVth century and reflects itself in the waters of a romantic lake in the midst of the forest. Souvenirs of the Stuarts may be seen on the frescos in the chapel and the elegant loggia erected in 1525 by Robert Stuart of Lennox upon his return from the italian wars. The beautiful Duchess of Portsmouth, mistress of the english King Charles II, lived there between 1672 and 1734. Her descendants, the dukes of Richmond, sold the castle in 1842 to the Marquis de Vogüé whose grandson is the present owner Inside, fine examples of furnitures, tapestries, portraits and sculptures of the XVth, XVIIth, XVIIIth centuries, can be seen.
