Originally designed as a hotel, the Mercédes is a superb example of the architecture of the 1930s. Steps lead to a vast reception area where small, colorful contemporary leather seats play off the green and yellow waxed plaster finishes.
The rooms have been done in gentler tones with linden green wall hangings, green carpets, and head boards and dressing tables in varnished wood outgrowth, creating cozy settings that harmonize well with the pale gray tiled bathrooms. The larger rooms are furnished with one or two period pieces from the 1930s, and the smaller ones have charming outside loggias.
